Washington Nationals catcher Yan Gomes is not starting in Saturday's lineup against the New York Mets.
Gomes will sit on Saturday afternoon after Alex Avila was announced as Washington's starting catcher for Joe Ross.
Per Baseball Savant on 127 batted balls this season, Gomes has produced a 9.4% barrel rate and a .303 expected average.
