Yermin Mercedes on White Sox's bench Wednesday
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Yermin Mercedes is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Ryan Yarbrough and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Mercedes is taking a seat after going 0-for-8 and striking out five times in the first two games of the series. Yasmani Grandal will serve as the White Sox's DH on Wednesday afternoon and Zack Collins will enter the lineup at catcher. Collins will catch Lucas Giolito and hit eighth. Brian Goodwin has been moved up to second in the order.
numberFire’s models project Grandal for 8.8 FanDuel points and he has a $2,800 salary on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the White Sox have an implied total of 4.0 runs. Yarbrough has the sixth-best walk rate this season (4.1 percent) among Wednesday's listed starters.
