Athletics' Jarrod Parker leaves mound yelling in pain

Oakland Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker (elbow) "came off the mound yelling in pain" after trying to throw to live hitters Thursday, according to Matt Kawahara of the Sacramento Bee.

What It Means:

Awful stuff. Parker was tossing his first live batting practice session of the spring and, from the sounds of it, just re-injured his right elbow in a bad way. He has already undergone two Tommy John surgeries in his career, and he fractured the same elbow last May. There should be an update from the Athletics' medical staff shortly.

Parker last pitched in the majors in 2013, recording a 4.41 xFIP in 197 innings. He had a 16.4 strikeout percentage that season, which is below the league average of 20.4 percent.
