Twins' Mitch Garver underwent groin surgery
Minnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver underwent groin surgery on Tuesday night.
Garver took a hard foul tip to the groin area during Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles and made a quick exit. The Twins haven't provided a timeline for Garver's absence, but the veteran backstop said on Instagram that he'll be out for a "while." Willians Astudillo, Ben Rortvedt, and possibly Ryan Jeffers will cover backstop duties for Minnesota while Garver is on the shelf.
Garver is averaging 8.4 FanDuel points per game this season while slashing .224/.333.500 with 8 homers and 17 RBI over 135 plate appearances.
