The Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Michael Pineda on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 16, with an abscess.
Pineda was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox because he needed a procedure to remove an abscess from his inner thigh. The Twins have selected the contract of right-hander Luke Farrell from Triple-A St. Paul to replace Pineda on the active roster.
Pineda is averaging 31.5 FanDuel points per start this season. He owns a 2.79 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 39 strikeouts and 10 walks over 38 2/3 innings (seven starts).
