Kansas City Royals first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn is back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against right-hander Michael Pineda and the Minnesota Twins.
O'Hearn was held out of the lineup the past two games while the Royals played on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a National League park. He will bat fifth as the Royals' designated hitter on Friday. Carlos Santana will bat second and start on first base.
