Nico Hoerner making start for Cubs Friday afternoon
Chicago Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner will start in Friday afternoon's series opener against left-hander Brett Anderson and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Hoerner will play second base and bat eighth in his first start of the season. He was recalled from the Cubs' alternate training site to replace Joc Pederson (wrist, IL). David Bote will shift to third and bat fifth. Matt Duffy is not in the starting lineup.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Cubs have an implied total of 4.9 runs on Friday's 15-game slate and Anderson owns the lowest strikeout percentage (11.6) among the 30 listed starters.
