Boston's Koji Uehara faces live hitters Thursday

Boston Red Sox pitcher Koji Uehara faced live hitters on Thursday for the first time since suffering a fractured wrist late last season.

What It Means:

Uehara threw 44 pitches at Red Sox camp on Thursday morning, and the team expects him to be 100 percent heading into the 2016 season. He is expected to be in the eighth-inning setup role behind new closer Craig Kimbrel. The 40 year-old Uehara will have very little fantasy value in 2016 unless there is an injury to Kimbrel.

Uehara had a strikeout rate of 29.4 percent before getting hurt last season. While hitters were only hitting .185 off of Uehara last season, his Skill Interactive ERA (SIERA) went up nearly a full point in 2015 to 2.78, compared to only 1.85 in 2014 and 1.29 in 2013.
