J.D. Martinez on Boston's bench Thursday
Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Michael Pineda and the Minnesota Twins.
Martinez appears to be getting the day off. Franchy Cordero will cover designated hitter while Alex Verdugo shifts to left field and Hunter Renfroe will return to the lineup in right. Renfroe will hit seventh while Xander Bogaerts will move up to bat third in place of Martinez. Rafael Devers will bat cleanup and Christian Vazquez will hit fifth.
numberFire’s models project Martinez for 9.0 FanDuel points versus the Twins and he has a salary of $2,600 on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Red Sox have an implied total of 3.8 runs.
