Phillip Evans riding Pirates' pine Thursday
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Chris Paddack and the San Diego Padres.
Evans appears to be getting a routine breather. He's hitting .342/.444/.632 through the first couple weeks of the season. Erik Gonzalez will start at third base in place of Evans and hit fifth. Kevin Newman has been moved up to second in the order.
numberFire’s models project Gonzalez for 7.2 FanDuel points versus the Padres and he has a salary of $2,100 on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates have an implied total of 3.4 runs.
