Astros' Martin Maldonado placed on injured list on Wednesday
Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado has been placed on the injured list Wednesday afternoon.
According to general manager James Click, Maldonado and four of his teammates - Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve and Robel Garcia - were all placed on the injured list due to the league's health and safety protocols surrounding COVID-19. Jason Castro figures to see more reps as the starting catcher, and Garrett Stubbs has been recalled from the alternate site.
In 34 plate appearances this season, Maldonado has a .091 batting average with a .209 OPS and 2 runs.
