Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman was placed on the injured list Wednesday afternoon.
According to general manager James Click, Bregman and four of his teammates - Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve Martin Maldonado and Robel Garcia - were all placed on the injured list due to the league's health and safety protocols surrounding COVID-19. On Wednesday, Bregman will be replaced at third base by Abraham Toro against Detroit Tigers starter Michael Fulmer.
In 38 plate appearances this season, Bregman has a .286 batting average with an .828 OPS, 2 home runs, 4 runs and 6 RBI.
