Juan Uribe's deal with Indians now official
The Cleveland Indians signed third baseman Juan Uribe to a one-year, $4 million contract.
The deal was reported over a week ago, but the official announcement was delayed while Uribe resolved visa issues. He'll have a chance to earn an additional $1.5 million in incentives. The veteran third baseman will take over at the hot corner for the Tribe, likely pushing Giovanny Urshela back to Triple-A. Uribe turns 37 next month.
Uribe posted a .253/.320/.417 slash line and .319 wOBA in 397 plate appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets last season. His 14 home runs were his most since hitting 24 during the 2010 season.
