Indians' Abraham Almonte suspended 80 games

Cleveland Indians outfielder Abraham Almonte has been suspended 80 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

What It Means:

Almonte tested positive for Boldenone. The outfielder had been in line to serve a major role -- perhaps as the starting center fielder -- at least while Michael Brantley (shoulder) was out, but that's obviously not going to happen now. The newly-signed Will Venable is likely now poised for a bigger role, and the Indians have also been connected to Austin Jackson.

Across 258 plate appearances in 2015, Almonte put together a .250/.310/.409 slash line with five home runs and seven steals.
