Padres sign Casey Janssen to minors contract
The San Diego Padres signed reliever Casey Janssen to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 34-year-old right-hander has previous closing experience, racking up 81 saves with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2012-2014, and could be another option at the backend of the Padres bullpen if he has a strong spring.
Janssen registered a 4.95 ERA (4.60 xFIP), 1.15 WHIP, a 6.08 strikeout-per-nine rate, and 1.80 walks-per-nine rate in 40 innings with the Washington Nationals in 2015.
