Blue Jays recall Todd Redmond from Triple-A

The Toronto Blue Jays called up Todd Redmond from the Buffalo Bison, the teams Triple-A affiliate.

What It Means:

Following a game in which the Blue Jays gave up 13 ER, the team optioned Scott Copeland, Ryan Tepera and Phil Coke to Triple-A Buffalo. Redmond is one of the replacements. A fringe MLB-caliber relief pitcher, he has 4.34 ERA in four seasons with the Blue Jays and Reds. His 11.88 ERA and 7.06 FIP in 8.1 MLB-innings and 4.81 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 1.89 K/BB in AAA -- this season -- leaves much to be desired. However, there is not much in terms of MLB-ready arms in the Blue Jays' farm system.
