Tigers ink Bobby Parnell to minors contract
The Detroit Tigers signed relief pitcher Bobby Parnell to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Parnell struggled mightily with the New York Mets in 2015. The 31-year-old right-hander was very effective for New York from 2010-2013, and the Tigers will hope he can rediscover some of that old magic. Parnell has an outside shot at an Opening Day bullpen job with Detroit.
In 2015, Parnell posted a 6.38 ERA (5.22 xFIP), 4.88 strikeouts-per-nine rate and 6.38 walks-per-nine rate over 24 innings of relief with the Mets.
