Rays sign reliever Ryan Webb to one-year deal
The Tampa Bay Rays signed relief pitcher Ryan Webb to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Webb is a nice late-offseason addition to the Rays' bullpen at a very good value. The 30-year-old right-hander owns a 3.35 career major league ERA, and he's a solid, groundball-inducing middle relief option.
In 50 2/3 innings last season with the Cleveland Indians, he had a passable 3.20 ERA (3.64 xFIP) but an uninspiring 5.51 strikeouts-per-nine rate and 2.13 walks-per-nine rate.
