Jesus Luzardo will open Athletics' postseason Tuesday
Oakland Athletics pitcher Jesus Luzardo will start Game 1 of the Wild Card Round against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, manager Bob Melvin announced.
Chris Bassitt will start Game 2 while the potential Game 3 starter will be determined if necessary. Luzardo recorded a 4.12 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 17 walks over 59 innings (nine starts) in his first official season in the majors. The young left-hander threw three scoreless innings in the Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Rays last year.
Luzardo averaged 26.1 FanDuel points per game during the regular season. numberFire's models expect him to score 27.5 FanDuel points in Game 1. The White Sox hit the third-most home runs (96) in the majors this season.
