Matt Carpenter on Cardinals' bench Thursday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series opener against left-hander Steven Brault and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Carpenter will sit for the matinee after playing in both ends of the Cardinals' doubleheader on Wednesday. He's hitless in his last 13 at-bats. Brad Miller will replace Carpenter in the designated hitter spot. Tommy Edman will move to third base and Kolten Wong will start on second base as the Cardinals' ninth batter.
numberFire's models expect Wong to score 10.7 FanDuel points on Thursday with a salary of $2,700. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Cardinals currently have an implied total of 4.67 runs.
