Caleb Smith (COVID-19) sent to Diamondbacks for Starling Marte
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired starting pitcher Caleb Smith (COVID-19) from the Miami Marlins in a deal for outfielder Starling Marte.
Smith has been limited to one start this season because of the Marlins' COVID-19 outbreak but he's expected to return to the mound in September. The 29-year-old left-hander is under team control until 2023.
Smith owns a 4.64 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 277 strikeouts and 109 walks over 252 1/3 major-league innings and 54 games (47 starts).
