The Miami Marlins are acquiring outfielder Starling Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitchers Caleb Smith and Humberto Mejia, per multiple reports.
The Marlins will also reportedly send a player to be named later to the Diamondbacks. Marte's contract includes a $12.5 million club option in 2021, so the Marlins may view this as more than a short-term rental. The veteran outfielder will turn 32 in October.
Marte slashed .311/.384/.443 with 2 homers, 8 doubles, 14 RBI, 5 steals, and 23 scores over 138 plate appearances (33 games) during his brief stint with the Diamondbacks. He has averaged 10.9 FanDuel points per game this season.
