The San Diego Padres have acquired starting pitcher Mike Clevinger from the Cleveland Indians.
The Padres will receiver Clevinger and outfielder Greg Allen in exchange for outfielder Josh Naylor, right-hander Cal Quantrill, catcher Austin Hedges, shortstop prospect Gabriel Arias, left-hand prospect Joey Cantillo, and infield prospect Owen Miller. The acquistion of the 29-year-old right-hander is a clear sign that the Padres have their sights set on bringing home a World Series trophy this season.
Clevinger recorded a 3.18 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and 11 walks in 22 2/3 innings (four starts) for the Indians this season.
