Andrew Velazquez starting for Orioles in Thursday's opener
Baltimore Orioles infielder/outfielder Andrew Velazquez is in the starting lineup for Thursday's series opener against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi and the Boston Red Sox.
What It Means:
Velazquez will man shortstop and bat ninth after a breather. Pat Valaika will shift to left field and Dwight Smith will play designated hitter as Baltimore's sixth and seventh hitters, respectively. Renato Nunez will replace Chris Davis on first base.
