Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler (paternity) will start on Saturday against the Miami Marlins after his wife gave birth Monday.
There had been a possibility that Wheeler wasn't going to be available for the start of the season while awaiting the birth of his child. The 30-year-old right-hander slung a 3.96 ERA and 23.5 strikeout percentage over 195 1/3 innings last year.
numberFire's models expect Wheeler to record a 4.07 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 69 strikeouts and 19 walks over 68 2/3 innings this season.
