Yankees' Aroldis Chapman (COVID-19) still testing positive
New York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman is still testing positive for COVID-19 with Opening Day just one day away.
Chapman at this point is pretty much asymptomatic, but he's still testing positive for the novel coronavirus. Per MLB's guidelines regarding the pandemic, a player needs two consecutive negative test results before they can rejoin the team. It's unclear exactly when that will come for Chapman, so in the meantime, expect Zack Britton to handle closer duties to start the season.
Our models currently project Chapman for a 2.90 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP, 32 strikeouts and 10 walks across 21.7 innings pitched this season.
