Juan Lagares returns to Mets
The New York Mets signed outfielder Juan Lagares.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that it's a minor league deal. Lagares was let go by the San Diego Padres last week after requesting to be released. He could wind up being the Mets' fourth outfielder for the upcoming 60-game sprint. The Mets released fellow veteran outfielder Melky Cabrera in a corresponding roster move. Lagares slashed .213/.279/.326 with 5 home runs, 27 RBI, 38 runs scored, and 4 steals over 285 plate appearances for the Mets in 2019.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Mets have the eighth-best odds (+1900) to win the 2020 World Series.
