Carlos Martinez earns spot in Cardinals' rotation
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez earned a spot in the Opening Day starting rotation.
Martinez was awarded the No. 5 spot over Kwang-Hyun Kim, who is viewed as the favorite for the closer role. He recorded his fifth straight ERA below 3.65 last season with career-bests in WHIP (1.18) and strikeout percentage (26.5).
numberFire's models expect Martinez to record a 3.91 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 24.4 strikeout percentage this season.
