Rockies name German Marquez Opening Day starter
The Colorado Rockies have named German Marquez their starter for Opening Day.
Marquez pitched for a 4.76 ERA with 175 strikeouts to 35 walks over 174 innings in 2019 before getting shut down with an arm injury. We haven't heard much regarding that injury since, and the extra time granted by the delayed season couldn't have hurt either. He'll get plenty of starts again this season with the Rockies.
Our model currently projects Marquez to pitch for a total of 63.7 innings for an ERA of 4.24 with 65 strikeouts, 16 walks, and 10 home runs allowed. He's projected to pitch 5.2 innings on Opening Day with 4.2 strikeouts, 3.4 earned runs, and 20.3 fantasy points.
