Orioles' Alex Cobb 'a little behind'

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that starting pitcher Alex Cobb 'is a little behind' the team's other starters physically.

What It Means:

He went on to say that he is hoping Cobb can continue to get stretched out by playing during today's exhibition game. Cobb would ordinarily be in the running for Opening Day duties with John Means trending towards missing the game, but it appears Cobb still has some conditioning to do before he can be ready to start.

Depending on how Monday's exhibition game goes, Cobb could still see the mound pretty early on this season. numberFire currently projects the veteran to pitch for an ERA of 5.17 over 57.4 innings in 2020, with 37 strikeouts, 21 walks, and 10 home runs allowed.
