Royals put Jake Junis (undisclosed) on IL
The Kansas City Royals placed RHP Jakob Junis (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list.
What It Means:
The Royals didn't provide a reason. His absence creates an opening in the rotation to start the season, potentially for Jesse Hahn. Kansas City may also opt to use "openers" for certain games instead of traditional starting pitchers. Junis posted a disappointing 5.24 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 164 strikeouts and 58 walks over 175 1/3 innings (31 starts) last season.
