Rays expect Yonny Chirinos (COVID-19) will be ready by Opening Day

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash says he hopes that pitcher Yonny Chirinos (COVID-19) 'will be ready' for Opening Day.

What It Means:

Chirinos was able to workout with the team for the first time Sunday after testing positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, Chirinos reportedly only dealt with mild symptoms, and Cash added that the pitcher 'was able to get his work in.' How much work he'll be able to handle right out of the gates is questionable, but his return is great news for the Rays.

Our model currently projects Chirinos to pitch for a 4.20 ERA with 47 strikeouts, 14 walks, and 8 home runs allowed over 53.6 innings.
