Astros' Roberto Osuna hasn't thrown off mound
Houston Astros closer Roberto Osuna has not yet thrown off a mound during summer camp, per comments from Astros manager Dusty Baker.
Osuna has no known injury but Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle writes that the closer's buildup has been slowest among Astros' pitchers. Manager Dusty Baker said Osuna reported late and in “fair shape,” but pitching coach Brent Strom believes the 25-year-old right-hander will be ready for Opening Day on on July 24 against the Seattle Mariners. Osuna had a 2.63 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 73 strikeouts and 12 walks over 65 innings in 2019 while racking up 38 saves.
numberFire's models expect Osuna to notch 13 saves over 23 2/3 innings this season while recoring a 3.43 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and 5 walks.
