Red Sox closing in on deal for Zack Godley
The Boston Red Sox are nearing a deal with free agent pitcher Zack Godley.
Godley was cut by the Detroit Tigers after signing with them last December. The 30-year-old spent nearly five seasons in Arizona from 2015-2019 before joining the Toronto Blue Jays via waivers last August. In 2019, Godley combined for a 4-5 record with a 5.97 ERA, 70 strikeouts, 42 walks, and a 1.500 WHIP in 92 innings pitched. If a deal gets done, Godley is expected to compete for a back-end rotation position.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Red Sox are tied for having the twelfth-worst odds (+4300) to win the 2020 World Series.
