Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander (undisclosed) worked out with the club for the first time on Tuesday.
The Orioles didn't indicate why Santander missed the first week-plus of workouts. Manager Brandon Hyde said Santander will be evaluated on a daily basis to determine his availability for Opening Day. The 25-year-old slashed .261/.297/.476 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 405 plate appearances (93 games) last season. Dwight Smith Jr. also arrived on Tuesday.
numberFire's models expect Santander to record a .253 batting average and .747 OPS with 8 homers, 24 RBI, and 21 runs scored in 193 plate appearances this season.
