Chris Paddack expected to be Padres' Opening Day starter
San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Paddack is expected to start on Opening Day, writes AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.
Paddack apparently looked sharp while throwing around 75 pitches over six innings in an intrasquad game on Sunday. He's lined up for one more scrimmage start before likely getting the nod for the Padres' Opening Day on July 24 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Paddack recorded a sharp 3.33 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 153 strikeouts and 31 walks over his first 140 2/3 major league innings last season.
numberFire's models expect Paddack to record a 3.69 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 72 strikeouts and 20 walks over 65 2/3 innings this season.
