Tyler Glasnow throwing at Rays workout
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is throwing a simulated game on Tuesday.
Glasnow threw 49 pitches (28 strikes) over 3 1/3 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts in his first group workout. The 26-year-old right-hander had been absent from summer camp for an undisclosed reason, but he now seems on track to make his first turn in the Rays' rotation. Glasnow went 6-1 in 12 starts last year while recording a 1.78 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 76 strikeouts over 60 2/3 innings. The Rays begin the season on July 24 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
numberFire's models expect Glasnow to record a 3.64 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 74 strikeouts and 24 walks in 59 1/3 innings this season.
