Starling Marte (undisclosed) missing from Diamondbacks
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Starling Marte has yet to arrive to summer camp.
The cause of Marte's absence is unknown, but Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said he isn't concerned. "No... He has missed some reps, so I’m concerned with him playing catch up, but he’s going to jump right back in the middle when he’s back with us.” It remains to be seen if Marte will be available for Opening Day. The 31-year-old veteran was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates in January after he set career-highs in home runs (23), RBI (82), runs scored (97), and OPS (.845) last season. Marte will be the Diamondbacks' everyday center fielder when active.
numberFire's models expect Marte to record a .282 batting average and .808 OPS with 9 homers, 28 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 10 steals this season.
