New York Mets starting pitcher Michael Wacha is building up to be a member of the Mets' rotation.
Wacha's rotation spot became secure when Noah Syndergaard declared to have Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. The 29-year-old right-hander signed an incentive-laden one-year deal with the Mets after spending his first eight years with the St. Louis Cardinals organization. His 1.56 WHIP and 18.5 strikeout percentage last year both represent career-worsts.
numberFire's models currently expect Wacha to record a 4.46 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 27 strikeouts and 13 walks over 32 1/3 innings this season.
