Pirates see Derek Holland as a starting pitcher
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters Sunday he sees pitcher Derek Holland as a starter.
Holland seemed poised to snag the fifth and final spot in the starting rotation back during Spring Training in March, and it seems that sentiment has held true within the organization. He signed a minor league deal in January after struggling mightily in 2019, but it seems as though he'll be in the Opening Day rotation on July 24.
Our models currently project Holland for a 5.02 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP, 52 strikeouts and 27 walks in 55.6 innings pitched.
