Rays' Jose Martinez absent from first day of summer workouts
Tampa Bay Rays' first baseman Jose Martinez was not present for the first day of summer workouts, according to Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
What It Means:
The specific reason for Martinez's absence is unknown, but Topkin did specify that it wasn't related to any travel issues. Chaz Roe and Yonny Chirinos were also absent from Friday's workouts. When asked about the absences, manager Kevin Cash responded by saying "There were a variety of reasons as to why we were not at 100% attendance".
