Breyvic Valera claimed by San Diego off waivers
Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Breyvic Valera has been claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres.
Valera spent 2019 splitting time in the Blue Jays and New York Yankees organization, mostly playing at each team's Triple-A affiliate. The former put him on waivers in an effort to clear room for the 60-man player pool that will define the 2020 season, and it seems as though the Padres could have use for the utility infielder.
Our models currently project Valera for a .213 batting average with 1 home run, 5 RBI, 5 runs and a .615 OPS across 52 plate appearances.
