Yankees 'very optimistic' for Aaron Judge (rib)
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the club is "very optimistic" outfielder Aaron Judge (rib) could be ready for Opening Day.
Judge recently began hitting off a tee in the batting cage and "didn't seem to be holding anything back." He has a little more than three weeks to get cleared for the start of MLB's planned 60-game season. Judge slashed .272/.381/.540 with 27 homers, 55 RBI, and 75 runs scored across 447 plate appearances last season. He hasn't recorded an OPS above .921 either of the last two years after posting a 1.049 OPS in his first full season in the majors. Judge turned 28 in April.
numberFire's models expect Judge to bat .272 with 13 homers, 32 RBI, and 37 runs scored in 219 plate appearances this season.
