Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman uncertain about playing

Washington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman wrote in the Associated Press that he's "still deciding whether to play" this season.

What It Means:

Zimmerman has a three-week-old baby and also a "super high-risk" mother with multiple sclerosis, so the COVID-19 pandemic presents a dilemma for the veteran. The Nationals re-signed Zimmerman to a one-year deal in January. He was limited to only 52 games last year due to injury. Zimmerman turns 36 in September.

Zimmerman slashed .257/.321/.415 with 6 homers and 27 RBI in 190 plate appearances last season. His ISO fell to .158 from .222 and .269 the previous two years. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Nationals are tied for the seventh-best odds (+1700) to win the 2020 World Series.
