Red Sox' Alex Verdugo (back) "all systems go" for start of 2020 season
Boston Red Sox center fielder Alex Verdugo should be "all systems go" for the start of the MLB season, according to Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom.
Verdugo was considered questionable for opening day due to a stress fracture in his back, but the delayed season has provided him with additional time to recover and he will be good to go. Verdugo was traded to Boston from Los Angeles in February and should be available to make his Red Sox debut when the season resumes in late July. Bloom also stated that pitcher Collin McHugh, who is recovering from an elbow injury, might be ready for the start of the season.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Red Sox (+4600) have the 19th best odds to win the 2020 World Series.
