Reds sign pitcher Jonathan Sanchez to minors pact

The Cincinnati Reds signed pitcher Jonathan Sanchez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

What It Means:

The 33-year-old southpaw hasn't pitched in the big leagues since the 2013 season. It's a nice low-risk signing for the Reds, who needed to add organizational depth for their youthful pitching staff.

Sanchez owns a career 4.70 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 786 1/3 big league innings. The last time he was in the big leagues was with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013, where he mustered just an 11.85 ERA in 13 2/3 innings pitched.
