Red Sox's Chris Sale has left flexor strain
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale has been diagnosed with a flexor strain in his left arm.
At the beginning of the week, it looked like Sale's elbow injury may require Tommy John surgery, so this is a positive development. The left-hander has been shut down from throwing for a week. The Red Sox should be able to provide a timeline for his return once he's back on the mound, but he's expected to be ready in the earlier portion of the season.
numberFire's models project Sale to record a 3.32 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 205 strikeouts and 35 walks this season.
