Red Sox's Chris Sale (sore elbow) undergoing MRI
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale is undergoing an MRI for elbow soreness.
Sale felt soreness in his elbow after throwing a 15-pitch session to teammates on Sunday. The Red Sox expect to know by Wednesday morning whether or not the left-hander will require Tommy John surgery. Sale was shut down in August of last season with an elbow issue.
Sale was 6-11 with a career-worst 4.40 ERA over 147 1/3 innings before being shut down last year. numberFire's models currently project him to spin a 3.31 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with an 11-7 record in 2020.
