Antonio Bastardo agrees to deal with Mets
The New York Mets signed relief pitcher Antonio Bastardo to a two-year, $12 million deal.
What It Means:
The 30-year-old southpaw was terrific out of the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen in 2015. He'll likely work in a setup role in front of closer Jeurys Familia.
Bastardo registered a 2.98 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 10.05 strikeouts-per-nine rate and 3.61 walks-per-nine rate across 57 1/3 innings in 2015.
