Nationals defeat Astros in Game 7, Stephen Strasburg named World Series MVP

The Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros by a score of 6-2 in Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday.

Stephen Strasburg took home MVP honors as the Nationals won their first World Series in franchise history. The 31-year-old right-hander became the first pitcher to ever go 5-0 in the postseason. Howie Kendrick, who also had a case for MVP, went 2-for-3 with a go-ahead 2-run homer and a walk in the Game 7 victory. Juan Soto was another deserving MVP candidate. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a walk on Wednesday. Anthony Rendon added a solo homer. Max Scherzer allowed 2 runs over five innings.

Strasburg allowed 4 runs on 12 hits with 3 walks and 14 strikeouts over 14 1/3 innings in Games 2 and 6.
